August

The weather continues to be DANGEROUSLY HOT. Avoid overexertion, especially in midday sun.  Keep both yourself and tender transplants and seedlings well hydrated!  Many prefer to avoid gardening outdoors in August completely except to prepare the soil for September planting.

However, many cool-season crops can be planted now and you may set out transplants of a final crop of warm-season vegetables, such as peppers, cucumbers, summer squash, and early tomatoes. See: Florida Vegetable Gardening Guide (http://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/VH021)
